The protection of your personal data is important to us. With this privacy policy, we inform you about which personal data we process in connection with the use of our website belia.me, of some BELIA Needs Assessments, your user account and our other services, for what purposes this is done and what rights you have.
The processing of personal data is carried out in compliance with applicable Swiss data protection law, in particular the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
BELIA's services are generally aimed at individuals resident in Switzerland and are fundamentally only available in Switzerland.

- Which personal data we process
Depending on how you use BELIA, we may process different personal data.
These may include in particular:
- Surname and first name
- Address
- Postcode and town
- Email address and further contact details
- Age information
- Login details for your user account
- Details and answers from the Belia Needs Check
- Free texts entered by you
- Technical information regarding the use of our website and our services
- Communication contents when you contact us
We only process personal data that is necessary for the respective purpose.
- Hosting and storage in Switzerland
Our website, the BELIA needs check, and the systems and databases operated by BELIA are hosted at Infomaniak Network SA, Switzerland, hosted.
The data stored in our own systems is stored on Infomaniak servers in Switzerland.
As part of the hosting, Infomaniak may process technical data insofar as this is necessary for the provision, security and operation of the infrastructure.
This excludes data that is transmitted to the providers of explicitly named external services as part of their use. This concerns in particular certain information when using the OpenAI API as well as data in connection with Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA.
- Technical data when visiting our website
Each time our website is accessed, technical information may be collected automatically by our systems or our hosting provider.
These may include in particular:

- previously visited website or referrer
- pages and subpages accessed

Technical log data is only stored for as long as is necessary for these purposes, unless legal obligations or legitimate security interests require longer retention.

A personal user account may be required to use certain features and services of BELIA.
In connection with your user account, the following data in particular may be stored:
- Surname and first name
- Address
- Email address and further contact details
- Login details
- Information that you provide while using our services
- Information and answers from the BELIA Needs Check
This data is used to maintain your user account and to provide you with the corresponding BELIA functions and services.
The personal data associated with your user account is generally stored for as long as your user account exists.
When your user account is deleted, the personal data associated with it will be deleted or anonymised, provided there are no legal retention obligations or other permissible reasons for continued storage.
- Access to your personal data
Access to the personal data stored by BELIA is restricted to authorised employees or persons authorised by BELIA.
Access only takes place to the extent that this is necessary for the provision of our services, the operation of our systems, the processing of enquiries, support or other tasks required for the operation of BELIA.
Personal data is not made generally accessible without an appropriate purpose.
- BELIA Needs assessment
BELIA provides a digital needs assessment tool. This helps you to find suitable offers and services based on your details.
For this you answer various questions and can provide additional information if necessary.
In particular, the following information can be evaluated to find suitable offers:
- your answers to the needs check questions
- your postcode
- where applicable, your age
- free text entered by you
The details are evaluated automatically and cross-referenced with the information and keywords on available offers stored at BELIA.
The BELIA Needs Check uses no cookies for analysis or tracking purposes.
The results of the needs check are for information and support in finding suitable offers. No automated individual decision with legal or similarly significant effect is made as a result.
- Use of artificial intelligence and OpenAI
For the automated evaluation of certain information within the BELIA needs check, we use the application programming interface (API) from OpenAI.
Only the information required to evaluate the needs assessment and search for suitable offers is transmitted to OpenAI.
These may include in particular:
- Responses from the needs check
- postcode
- Age, provided this information is relevant for the evaluation
- free-text inputs required for the search
Direct identification and contact details from your user account will not be transmitted to OpenAI for this evaluation.
In particular, the following are not transmitted to OpenAI:
- Surname and first name
- full address
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Password and other access details
The information submitted to OpenAI is processed automatically to interpret your inputs and cross-reference them with the information and keywords available at BELIA.
Data submitted via the OpenAI API is not, by default, used to train OpenAI's general AI models, in accordance with the terms applicable to the API we use.
As part of the technical provision of the service, the transmitted data may be stored by OpenAI for a limited period and also processed outside of Switzerland.
BELIA deliberately does not transmit direct identification data to OpenAI. Nevertheless, individual details from the needs assessment, either on their own or in combination with other information, may constitute personal data.
Therefore, please do not enter any names, contact details or other information in free text fields that are not necessary for carrying out the needs check.
- Special categories of personal data
Depending on the content of the questions and answers, information that may be considered particularly sensitive personal data under Swiss data protection law can be processed within the scope of the BELIA needs assessment.
This may be the case, for example, if the information allows conclusions to be drawn about health or other specially protected personal circumstances.
We only process such data to the extent necessary for the provision of the corresponding functions and services.
During automated evaluation, only those details that are necessary for the respective processing are transmitted to deployed service providers.
Direct identification data is not transmitted to OpenAI in the process, insofar as it is not necessary for the processing.
- Google Analytics
On the website belia.me we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google.
Google Analytics enables us to statistically evaluate the use of our website, better understand the use of our offering and improve our website.
This can include, in particular, information about:

- the browser used
- pages viewed
- Time and duration of the visit
- Interactions with our website
- technical information such as the IP address
to be processed.
In connection with Google Analytics, data may also be processed outside of Switzerland by Google or by service providers engaged by Google.

Google Analytics is not within the BELIA needs assessment deployed.
- Google reCAPTCHA
On belia.me we use Google reCAPTCHA.
reCAPTCHA is used to determine whether input on our website is made by a human or is automated. This allows us to protect our website, and forms in particular, against spam, abusive use, and automated attacks.
In particular, the following information can be processed by Google:
- IP address
- Browser information
- Device information
- technical information
- Information about interacting with our website
In connection with Google reCAPTCHA, data may also be processed outside of Switzerland by Google or by service providers used by Google.
- Biscuits
On belia.me cookies and similar technologies can be used.
Cookies are small files that are stored on your device. They may be required, for example, to provide certain functions of our website or – where necessary with your consent – to analyse the use of our website.
You can control or delete cookies via your browser or via the cookie settings offered on our website.
For analysis and tracking technologies that are not technically necessary, we obtain your consent, where required.
The BELIA needs assessment itself does not use cookies for analysis or tracking purposes.
- Communication with BELIA
When you contact us via our website, by email or through other communication channels, we process the contact details and content you provide in order to process and respond to your enquiry.
These data will only be stored for as long as is necessary to process your request, unless there are statutory retention obligations or other permissible reasons for longer storage.
Please note that the transmission of information via the internet can fundamentally involve security risks. Therefore, do not transmit confidential information via unsecured communication channels.
- Newsletter
If BELIA offers a newsletter, you can voluntarily sign up for it.
For shipping purposes, your name and email address in particular may be processed.
The data will be used for sending the newsletter and will generally be stored for this purpose as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the corresponding link in the newsletter or by contacting us.
If we use an external service provider to send newsletters, the data required for this purpose may be transmitted to this service provider.
- Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to websites and services of other providers.
If you follow such a link, the data protection provisions of the respective provider apply to the further processing of your personal data.
We have no control over how these third-party providers process personal data and assume no responsibility for their content, offers or data privacy practices.

Service providers generally receive only the information that is necessary for the provision of their respective services.
- Data processing abroad
The systems and databases operated by BELIA itself are hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland.
However, when using certain external services, individual personal data may also be processed outside Switzerland. This particularly concerns internationally active technology providers such as OpenAI and Google.
Insofar as personal data is disclosed to countries whose data protection law does not ensure adequate protection under Swiss law, we provide appropriate safeguards within the scope of legal requirements or base the disclosure on another legally permissible basis.
- Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, unauthorised modification and disclosure.
These include, in particular:
- the encrypted transmission of data between your device and our systems
- the encrypted storage of the data in our databases
- the encrypted storage of our backups
- Access restrictions and authorisation policies for systems and personal data
- the restriction of access to persons who require it for their work
- technical and organisational measures for the protection of our server and hosting infrastructure
- regular updating and maintenance of the deployed systems
- Measures for the detection and prevention of unauthorised access and cyber attacks
Our systems and databases are hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland. Access to stored personal data is restricted to authorised personnel and only occurs to the extent necessary for their work.
Our data backups are also protected and stored in encrypted form. Their primary purpose is to ensure the availability and recoverability of our systems and data in the event of a technical failure or any other incident.
Our security measures are reviewed regularly, taking into account the level of protection required for the processed data and technical developments, and are updated as necessary.
Despite adequate technical and organisational security measures, absolute security cannot be guaranteed with electronic systems.
- The security of your user account and password
If you use a BELIA user account, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and choosing a sufficiently secure password.
Never share your password with other people and, if possible, do not use a password that you already use for other services.
If you suspect that another person has gained access to your password or user account, you should change your password immediately and contact us if necessary.
BELIA will not ask you to disclose your password by email or through other insecure communication channels.
For its part, BELIA shall take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the user accounts and the personal data stored therein.
- Storage and deletion of personal data
We generally store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the respective processing purpose or as required by statutory retention obligations.
Personal data associated with your user account is, as a general rule, stored for the duration of the user account.
Upon deletion of the user account, the associated personal data will be deleted or anonymised, provided there are no statutory retention obligations or other permissible grounds for further storage.
Data processed by external service providers such as OpenAI, Google or other providers is also subject to the respective retention and deletion policies of these providers.
- Your rights
Under the relevant Swiss data protection legislation, you have various rights in relation to your personal data.
In particular, you may request information about which personal data we process about you.
Depending on the legal requirements, you may also, in particular:
- to request the rectification of incorrect personal data
- request the erasure of personal data
- request the release or transfer of certain personal data
- object to a specific data processing operation
